Happy New Year 2009

Just missed Obama:(

How was your New Years Celebration? Our New Years Eve was spent, picking up Mac Nut Pancakes at Boots & Kimo's, running to the Base Gym to visit the President Elect, visiting Playmorning & CDC to drop off New Year cards, shopping at the commissary, looking for 12 pieces of round fruit to put on the table (for a sweet life) and cooking Pancit Noodles (for a long life). Mother, I did make sure I was wearing circles/polka dots (for prosperity) and had change in my pockets (more for prosperity and CHANGE, thank you OBAMA..lol) (Filipinos and their traditions & superstitions) What other traditions & superstitions for the New Year are out there?

We had Hannah (Rinnah's old teacher at CDC), Kayden (Jonah's old classmate at Sunshine School), & Susan (her mom visiting from NY) over for a Pancit dinner, talking story. Thanks Hannah for bringing over some mint chocolate brownies yummy. The kids ate some corn, chicken nuggets, mac & cheese and lots of fruit. Our friends didn't stay for the fireworks though we had several light shows throughout the evening, some sounded like dynamite.

Fireworks from our neighbors.

Back to the celebration, I spent the evening by myself watching Angels in America (very entertaining, weird yet I could not seem to turn it off) Rinnah picked this movie out at the library the day before, she would not let go... needless to say I saw the words Angels and Al Pacino and Meryl Strep made me think it was going to be uplifting and touching... NOT! The director does have a vivid imagination.

10 mins before midnight the kids and Rooney were still asleep (considering the explosive fireworks were going off since 7pm), so I grab the kids, wake up Dad and head to the porch before midnight with seconds to spare. Tada...midnight kisses and snuggles...that was the first time since 2004 that I took the time to watch what turned out to be the most comfortable and beautiful fireworks display from home. I wanted to hop up on the roof earlier in the evening, however the rain came and that was a negatory, as Rooney would say, with a baby in my arms:) The lights were beautiful from the front porch anyway. Thank you to the neighbors in the culdesac for an AWEsome display, as well as the beach fireworks. All around us they were all beautiful. Rinnah joined me with some oohs and ahhhs and Jonah had his fingers in his ears cranky that we woke him up (I wonder where he gets that from).

It was wonderfully lovely that we were all home together as a family this year. That says alot for being a military family, I'm excited because this is how the rest of our year will be like, anyway here's to our new year together full of Prosperity, Love, Peace and Happiness!

Voila.... the first photo of 2009...
